<p class="docx-p">1887年8月，山东巡抚张曜奏请由掖县沙河展设军用电线直达胶州，清政府准奏并予实施。线路由莱州府掖县沙河掖字第2187号杆接线起,经平度州至胶州,全程81公里。</p>
<p class="docx-p">1893 年清政府在青岛海口设炮台,该线由胶州延至青岛,供胶澳驻军使用。</p>
<p class="docx-p">1906 年至 1907 年间,胶州至潍县沿铁路线架设电报线路,开通报路。</p>
