    1996—2005年，山东省外国文学和比较文学研究稳步发展，研究成果主要集中在英语文学研究，欧洲其他语种文学研究，东方文学研究，比较文学研究，文学与艺术、宗教研究，外国文学史及理论研究等重要领域。山东外国文学研究学者积极吸收借鉴后殖民主义、现代主义、叙述学等理论，加强对英美作家、作品和思潮的研究。比较文学研究中《比较文学与二十世纪中国文学》等成果有一定的影响。
