    2000年前，全省报业的通联工作重点在于处理通讯员来稿与人民来信来访，2000年后，转为以读者热线服务与舆论监督为主。晚报、都市报兴起后，媒体的线索由新闻线人提供。截至2005年底，全省新闻线人有近万人。新闻线人作为一个新兴群体，成为通联工作不可或缺的一部分。1991—2005年，全省报业通联工作由单纯事务性工作逐步转为直接与编采紧密结合的读者热线、深入调查及编发报纸栏目、新闻刊物与内参等。
