    1991年前，山东省的报纸基本形态为“文字+图片”。20世纪90年代末，以《齐鲁晚报》《生活日报》《济南时报》等为代表的“改增扩”版，促使报纸进入“厚报时代”；异地印刷和彩色铜版纸包装使报纸的品相不断提高。
    2000年前后，互联网广泛应用，丰富了编辑手段，也对报纸编辑提出“一专多能”的更高要求——会编稿、会画版，会组版、会美化版面。全省各报业媒体严格落实“采编九法”的时效法则，认真贯彻实施各级责任制，培养与造就了一批优秀编辑。
