    山东省非金属矿产矿种多、分布广、储量大，17市均有分布，是勘查重点矿种之一。至2005年，全省已发现非金属矿产90种，探明储量的47种。查明资源总量列全国第一位的有自然硫、石膏、玻璃用砂岩、电气石、陶瓷土等，列全国第二位的有菱镁矿、透辉石、金刚石等，列第三位的有蛇纹岩、石墨等。非金属矿产按基本用途分为建筑材料矿产、冶金辅料矿产、化工原料矿产、宝玉石及奇石类矿产四大类。
