　　威海市有普通高等教育院校3所，即山东大学威海分校(威海大学)、哈尔滨工
业大学威海分校暨汽车工程学院、山东经济学院荣成分院。1997年，在校生3669人。
3所高校以为威海市经济建设和社会发展服务为己任，积极配合当地政府实施“科
教兴威”战略，开展科学研究，培养适用型人才。至1997年底，3所高校为当地培
养各级各类高技术人才近1万人。
