    被誉为江北第一大瓜菜生产基地的尧沟镇，瓜菜种植面积已达4万亩,占耕地
面积的98%，1995年瓜菜收入超过2.7亿元。年内引进了高、稀、优新品种--宝冠
西瓜，黄皮、红瓤、汁多、味甜、爽口,个比一般西瓜小,但每棵可结2-3个,成熟
期早于一般西瓜，亩产值高达一般西瓜的2.5-3倍。引进了新的品种,也引进了新
的栽培技术，高温育苗、配方施肥、无公害栽培、精心管理,当年引进,当年创高
产。5月初, 瓜还没上市,就因其皮色特殊,稀少罕见,质地优良等特点吸引了大批
客商,以高出一般西瓜数倍的价格抢购一空。试种300亩,每亩平均收入1.5万元。
并在此基础上，培训大批宝冠西瓜技术员, 做好大面积推广种植的准备。保持了
人无我有,人有我优的竞争力。
