根据公安户籍年报统计，2002年，全市总户数220.49万户，比上年增长0.8
%；总人口646.72万人，比上年增长0.1%。在总人口中，农业人口428.38万人，下降
2.3%；非农业人口218.34万人，增长5.2%。市区人口168.45，增长3.2%，市区人
口中，农业人口69.26万人，下降3%；非农业人口99.19万人，增长8.1%。
    在全市总人口中，男性人口325.84万人，与上年持平；女性人口320.15万人，增
长0.06%。全年出生人口49820人，比上年增加5134人；全年死亡人口44696人，比上
年增加1612人。
    2002年烟台市人口出生率7.7‰，死亡率6.91‰，自然增长率0.79‰。
