淄博市位于北纬355520～371714，东经1173215～1183100之间，地处鲁中山区与华北平原的接合部，南依沂蒙山区与临沂接壤，北临华北平原与东营、滨州相接，东接潍坊，西与山东省省会济南接壤。市域形态南北狭长，南北最大纵距151千米，东西最大横距87千米。淄博地处山东中部，交通发达，是沟通中原地区和山东半岛的咽喉要道，是山东省重要的交通枢纽城市。全市行政辖区总面积5965平方千米，占山东省总面积的3.8%。（宋 亮）
