    建国后， 淄博市高等教育从无到有，逐步发展。1958年8月创建淄博工学院，首招学生219名。9月创建淄博医
学专科学校。 1960年8月原北镇师范专科学校迁至张店。上述三校于60年代初分别撤销改办成中专或迁校。1962年
10月，山东农业机械化学院（1958年创建）从德州迁至张店，驻原淄博工学院院址。
    1978年12月底在博山建立山东建筑材料工业学院， 同年12月开始筹建淄博师范专科学校。1981年4月29日建立
淄博教育学院（同淄博师专合办）。到1986年，全市共有高等院校3所。其中省属2所（山东农机学院和山东建材学
院），市属1所（淄博师范专科学校）。
