    青岛至黄岛之间的轮渡长期因运力不足造成运输紧张，不能满足社会需要。1993
年7月， 轮渡公司筹集586.4万元，购置渡轮1艘，后又投资280万元修建黄岛码头2号
泊位，并于年底完工投产。由过去的3艘渡轮和3个泊位，增加到4艘渡轮和4个泊位，
实现了2条渡运航线同时运行的目标，渡运能力明显提高。
    1993年， 海上轮渡完成客运量475.2万人，客运周转量5228万人公里，均比上年
增长17.65%；完成货运量127.5万吨，货运周转量1402万吨公里，均比上年增长5.5%。
