    该工程是1995年唯一获国务院批准的全国沿海港口基本建设项目，是“九五”期间第一个国家重
点工程建设项目。工程总设计6个深水泊位，其中2个为集装箱专用深水泊位，其余为多用途泊位，年
吞吐能力510万吨；总投资15.74亿元。
    1995年12月25日，工程全面开工建设。至1997年12月22日，2个顺岸泊位建成投入使用，突堤泊位
基本建成，比国家规定工期提前2年。1998年工程将全部竣工投产。
