    自1996年11月市法律援助中心成立以来，全市共受理法律援助案件近千件。1997年全市办理法律
援助案件409件，接待当事人咨询2．7万人次；其中，市法律援助中心为贫困者、残疾者、妇女儿童
等社会弱者办理援助案件156件。经司法部推荐，市法律援助中心被确定为全国唯一受联合国开发计
划署提供资金支持的试点单位。中央电视台3次报道本市法律援助工作。
