                                   第四节  法律援助

    2000年11月，东明县法律援助中心成立，为副科级事业单位，隶属县司法局。2001年4月,县法律援助中心挂牌执业，有律
师4名.5月成立东明县法律援助委员会。8月法律援助中心在县残联、老龄委、妇联、团县委、总工会、武装部设立法律援助联
络室，在13个乡镇设立联络站。县法律援助中心依据国家法律援助条例，主管全县法律援助业务的宣传和案件的审批、分流，
承办辖区内的法律援助案件。对未成年人、老人、残疾人等重大刑事案件，无辩护人的，积极提供法律援助；对民事、行政案
件中的未成年人、老人、军烈属、残疾人等弱势人群和特殊人群提供法律援助；对经济困难群众，提供法律援助。至2005年底，
法律援助中心成功批办400余起法律援助案件，维护了被援助人的合法权益。
