    1986年,东明县化工企业有县化肥厂、制药厂、塑料厂、马头炼油厂4家.至2005年底，全县化工企业发展到14家,职工4076
人，涉及石油化工、药品制造等行业。固定资产18.6亿元,占全县限额以上工业固定资产的82%；当年实现总产值65.2亿元，占
全县工业总产值的70.2% ；上缴税金2.21亿元，占全县工业企业上缴税金的81.2%。化工业已发展成为东明经济的支柱产业。
