    1986年前，东明县交通事业发展缓慢。1991年始，境内干线公路升级改造，县、乡公路建设速度加快。1998年，菏东高速
公路建成通车。1999年，新（乡）菏（泽）铁路复线竣工通车。2002年，全县“村村通油路”工程启动。至2005年，境内干线
公路全部完成升级改造，由三级升为一、二级公路，总长113.8公里。县、乡公路里程达到329.8公里，其中，县道146.5公里、
乡道183.3公里。年客运量195万人、货运量152万吨。
