    《东明县新志》记载：“有清之初，圣主颇喜佛法，徒遂为之一振，然而村落旧
有之寺院，亦未曾尽复旧观，至光宣之间，科举即停，学校林立，多以僧寺禅房为校
址，取其资为校费，迄今几乎绝迹。……而东明亦尤是。”1953年，全县有名可查的
和尚为13人，年龄在40—74岁之间，法名为圣德、传兴、传增、隆典、庙顺、记营、
能化、能超、文鸣等，除沙窝庙圣德、开元寺隆典外，其余已于1951年前陆续还俗。
圣德、隆典和尚，于1983年前相继去世。
