    1954年国家颁布《中华人民共和国兵役法》，全县实行义务兵役制，县成立兵役委员会，并将人民武装部改为兵役局。为贯彻落实兵役法，在全县范围内进行广泛宣传。广大适龄青年热烈响应，纷纷写决心书、志愿书、申请书，积极应征入伍，同年顺利完成765名的应征任务。为保证征兵质量，县、乡(公社)成立征兵办公室，对应征人员进行严格的体检和政审，保证了征兵质量，真正做到了走者愉快，留者安心。
