    制革业有着悠久的历史，且散布在民间，比较集中的是军屯、前园等回民村。1981年3月成立县皮革厂，位于县城西北1公里处，当时有干部职工19人，固定资产2.73万元，设备11套，年产值1.72万元。1975年因生产经营不景气濒临倒闭。1983年改为县皮件厂，在经济体制改革试点中，集资办厂，跨行业经营，企业有点生机。1984年停产。1985年恢复生产。1990年拥有固定资产10万元，产值1.4万元。
