    单县业余体校始设于1965年，当时开设一个篮球班，聘请业余教练2人。教学条件简陋，培训项目单一。
    1966—1971年，业余体校因受干扰停止教学。1972年，恢复业余办班，仍只设一个篮球班，共有学员24人，配专职教练员2人。1972年增设武术、田径两个班，学员增至90人，有专职田径教练员2人，篮球教练员1人，聘请业余武术教练2人。之后又增加了射击班、摔跤班。至1987年，共有专职教练员7人。
    1965—1987年共训练各种体育人才140人。向省队输送6人，向地区级输送47人，向大专院校（体育系）输送43人。
