    1930年以前，城乡建设无专门管理机构，重大建设工程由知县主持。1930年国民党政府始设建设局，后改建设科。1941年，单县抗日县政府设建设科。1949年后，单县人民政府设建设科，1965年改为建设委员会。1966年合并到计划委员会。1970年成立城建局，1974年改为基本建设局，1984年3月改为单县城乡建设环境保护委员会。1985年3月，成立环境保护办公室，单县城乡建设环境保护委员会改名为单县城乡建设委员会。
