    单县城位于县境中部偏西，北纬34°47′，东经116°05′。西距曹县城48公里，南距砀山县城55公里，东距丰县城52公里，东北距金乡县城35公里，西北距成武县城25公里。为单县政治、经济、文化中心。故城在历史上为县治、济阴郡治、单州治所在地。今城，明嘉靖以来，一直为县治，解放后一度为湖西地委、专署、军分区驻地。
