    清代成武县属单县营防地，今境内曾设二汛：成武汛，把总一员，马兵3名，步兵30名；白浮图汛（时属单县），经制外委1员，马兵1名，步兵8名。1900年（光绪二十六年），民教纠纷不断，练拳活动日盛，为弹压民众，防军左营七月初五日到防，将田家集（今大田集，时属巨野县）之前哨移驻县城东南隅，又分4棚驻天宫庙。
