    基督教于1895年（清光绪二十一年）传入境内，定陶成立福音会，发展教友158人。建国后，多数教友自行退会，至1963年，仅有教友73人，又多系老年人，聚会活动停止。1978年后，在边远农村，又有人信仰耶稣，其中90%为妇女，活动点均设在教徒家中，悬挂耶稣和圣母像与基督教图片，星期天聚会祷告，唱赞美诗，讲《圣经》，至1990年，基督教徒增至1000余人。
