    清末，由县署户房掌管钱、粮征收。民国时期，国民县政府由财政局兼管各项税收。
    1949年3月，定陶民主县政府设税务局。1958年，全县11处人民公社设税务所。1963年，增设东王店公社税务所。1967年，财政、税务、工商局合并成立县财经革命委员会。1972年，撤销财经革命委员会，设财税局。1979年，设18处公社税务所。1981年，财税分开设税务局。1990年，全县税务部门有干部职工204人，下设办公室、政工股、税务股、征管股、会计股、监察股、稽察队、检查室和直属税务所，辖18处乡镇税务所。
