    定陶种植苇、蒲、藕历史悠久，由于管理粗放，收入较低。到1980年，全县植藕492.5亩，冉堌公社王堂大队利用村头洼开挖藕池12亩，平均单产4000公斤，总产4.8万公斤，收入2万余元，占农业收入的25%。全县有宜苇、蒲地面积12000亩，实际种植588亩，占宜苇、蒲面积的3.9%，平均单产1000公斤，总产294吨，收入12万元。1980年后，苇、蒲、藕都实行承包责任制，种植面积逐年扩大，到1990年，全县共种藕750亩，平均单产1500公斤，总产1125吨，种植苇、蒲2600亩，平均单产1200公斤，总产3120吨。
