    本县佛教历史悠久，至1919年，全县共有寺院108座、庵堂10座。石井的荆山寺（又名玉泉院）始建于东晋，是本县最早的寺院。较早的寺院还有诸满村北的兴圣寺，建于北齐武平三年，管辖10座寺院，有和尚70余名；岐山寺、芙蓉寺始建于唐朝。其它大都是明朝以后建立的。上述寺院和庵堂今已荡然无存，僧、尼有的老死，有的还俗。
