    典当
    北当：18世纪，山西人曹春和带领7个伙计来到费城，买下了王御史的宅基，建起了北当铺，以典当方式经营业务，达200年之久。当铺利息一般为2分5厘至3分。1928年，土匪刘桂堂进驻费城抢劫了北当，曹氏感到无法经营，通过中人郑克诚说合，以1.2万元的价格，把北当的南部卖给商人商玉杰，北部卖给德国人华德胜。
    南当：一王姓山西人在费城原宗鲁街南侧建起的一座当铺，时间略早于北当。其经营方式与北当大同小异。至第二代时，由于资金不足，当铺倒闭。
