    1978年以前，费县村办工业只有少量的粮油加工业和石料、石灰、铁木业。进入80年代，村办工业有了较快的发展。至1985年全县村办工业413处，主要有建材、食品加工、土陶等，产品达120个品种。其中较好的有中牛田蜜枣厂，年生产能力10万公斤，产品大部分销往国外，年产值为77万元，利润15万元。其次还有员外乡桃园村办山楂罐头厂，年收入49.8万元，人均750元。
