    蒙阴自古交通闭塞，旧县志载：“蒙处万山之脊，舟车不通，人民稀少，土货不出，外货不入”。1653年（清顺治十年），建京师（北京）至福州的驿道，途经济南、蒙阴至郯城出省，俗称御大路。1915年（民国4年），县内有4条通道：曲阜至蒙阴城道，中经泗水、武台集；蒙阴至马站道，中经坡里、东里店；蒙阴至坦埠道；坡里至沂水道。另外有乡道5条：蒙阴至汶南道，长22.5公里，中经台庄、大田家林；蒙阴至鲁村道，长70公里，中经黄土山、土门、大张庄；蒙阴至费县道，经桃墟、无粮店（现称余粮店），县内长25公里；坦埠至坡里道，长20公里；坦埠至野店道，长16.5公里。
