    1941年1月，县抗日民主政府设立文教科，管理全县文化和教育工作。1947年夏，教
育停办，文教科撤销。1948年秋，恢复教育，县政府重新设文教科。1956年4月，文
教科分为文化科和教育科。是年秋，教育科改称教育局。1960年，文化科与教育局合
并为文教局。1966年底至1968年2月，因“文化大革命”运动，文教局失去职能。19
68年3月，县革命委员会设政治部教育组，管理全县教育。1976年，恢复莒南县教育
局。1993年12月，教育局改称教育委员会，下设17个科(室)，工作人员共94人。
