    建国初期，苍山县政府无专门体育办事机构，体育工作由团县委分管。1955年秋苍山县体育运动委员会成立，县长孙立阶兼主任，具体业务工作由团县委兼办。1959年由教育局配1名专职干部分管。1960年由文化科分管，后又由教育局派员分管。1971年体委改为体育组。1973年配专职教练员1名。1977年重建苍山县体育运动委员会。1996年体委14人。群众体育工作由厂矿、企业的基层工会负责，各乡镇的文化站，各村的青年之家具体负责。
