    建国前，以家大人多为荣，富豪之家多是三代、四代同堂，有的家庭成员达数十人。贫穷人家多为小家庭，因无力承受家庭负担，男子成年或未待成年便独自谋生，组建新的家庭。1909年（清宣统元年），全县有45498户270939人，平均每户5.95人。20年代后，大家庭逐渐解体。1932年，全县有58970户261882人，平均每户4.44人。
    建国后，社会安定，多数青年婚后即另立门户。1953年，全县70708户315848人，平均每户4.46人。1985年平均每户4.34人。
