    1962年，文物工作由文化馆管理，收集出土、流散文物，进行集中保管，专室存放。“文化大革命”中，文物被视为“四旧”，部分文物遭破坏。1976年6月图书馆恢复，接管文物，建立文物组。通过发掘、试掘出土、社会征集、群众捐赠等手段，馆藏文物不断增加，至1985年达511件。其中石器30件，骨器37件，瓷器76件，铜器66件，玉器37件，书画25件，陶器250件。有研究价值的陶片资料甚多。地区博物馆在广平征集的唐代石刻造像（地区博物馆收藏）、图书馆征集的金代白线乌釉双系瓜棱罐，曾随山东文物展在日本展出达3个月之久。
