    建国前，工农业产品不等价交换形式较突出。建国后，国家为缩小工农产品剪刀差，根据等价交换的原则，先后多次提高农副产品收购价格，对供应人民群众的工业品价格采取基本稳定的政策，工农业产品的交换比价则逐步缩小。1950年与1985年相比，农民以100公斤小麦作为交换品，可换取工业品：红糖由12.39公斤增至31.39公斤，食盐由46.6公斤增至161.4公斤，肥皂由38.4条增至96.2条，煤油由16.7公斤增至64.6公斤。
    粮棉比价，1950年中等标准皮棉每担可换取中等小麦498.5公斤，到1985年减少为390.3公斤，同等棉则少换取同等小麦108.2公斤。其原因是1985年比1950年小麦收购价提高幅度为194.27%，而棉花价格只提高了130.4%。
