    环境保护工作始于1974年，由县计划委员会确定一名干部专门负责。1981年7月，成立县环境保护委员会，下设环境保护办公室负责此项工作。1984年6月环境保护办公室与县基本建设委员会合并，成立城乡建设环境保护委员会，下仍设环境保护办公室负责环保工作。1987年底，该办干部职工共14名，其中主任1人，副主任1人，工作人员12人。
