    宁津县境，地处古九河流域，九河中之胡苏、鬲津二河，流经县境。公元前39年（汉永光五年）黄河决徙北流县西境。1900年（清光绪二十六年）《宁津县志》载：其水在县西者为老黄河，在县南者为鬲津枯河。在县城后者为胡苏枯河。详见自然地理编。
