    田径项目始开展于学校，30年代，始办田径运动会，50年代后，群众性的田径活动逐步兴起，日趋普及。建国后，随着体育事业的不断发展，除个别年份外，每年均举行一次全县范围内的田径运动会。1964年，在地区举行的田径运动会上我县运动员王明峰在100米、200米、三级跳远比赛中，创地区记录，其中100米，三级跳远记录保持10年之久；同年陈玉春获女子组100米冠军。1985年5月，我县铅球运动员王荣兰以12.07米的成绩破地区记录。
