    建国前，临邑排水渠道均为顺其自然，冲沟溜道，加之人工疏导而成排水河系。主要排水河流有徒骇河、土马河、沙河、马颊河，汇流境内坡水，东流入海。
    解放初，为应排涝之急，治理、疏浚骨干排水河道，同时疏挖沟渠以排除洼地积水。1952年，疏浚肖家河沟、曹店沟、杨家洼沟、鱼洼沟、柴家庙子沟、岱刘沟，1954年开挖纪家洼沟，以将各洼地积水排入土马河。
    1952年疏浚西大沙河洼沟、姜坊子洼沟、石家洼沟、赵坊子洼沟将洼地积水排入沙河。
    1952年疏浚景家河沟（后改为傅家沟）, 1957年开挖尹家洼干沟以排除景家洼、尹家洼、解家洼涝水入马颊河。
    整治后，县内部分洼地有了排水之路。
