    武城县位于山东省西北边陲，东经115°51＇—116°17＇，北纬37°03＇—37°23＇之间。东邻黄河故道，与平原县连接；南和夏津县交界；西、北两面隔卫运河，同河北省故城县相望；东北濒四女寺减河，与德州市为邻。
    全境南窄北阔，西南到东北较长，东西宽27公里，南北长33公里，面积748平方公里。1985年有耕地654720亩。
    县内地势南高北低，属于典型的黄河冲积平原。地面高程饮马庄30.5米（以大沽口为基面，下同），胡家洼21.8米，自然坡降为1/6000。
