    武城县利用电力照明始于1930年，而大办电力事业却是建国后的1958年。该年，成立武城县电厂筹建办公室，购进20千瓦的罗马尼亚的发电机组。1959年，武城电厂又购进日本产的发电机2部，配设变压器4台，时输出电压为3000伏，变电计180千伏安。1981年，全县建有变电站5处，35千伏的主线路8条，计128.9公里；10千伏主线路21条，计197.1公里。1985年，全县建变电站6处，110千伏线路35.3公里，35千伏线路116.3公里，10千伏线路588公里，年供电总量3000余万度，通电村庄334个，占全县村庄的82%。
