    1928年（民国17年）。设县公立图书馆1处，1930年（民国19年）扩充为县民众教育馆。1931年（民国20年）有通俗图书馆1处，藏书数百册。馆长李铁民。
    1945年武城县解放后，再未单独建立图书馆，由县文化馆设图书室，配专人负责图书储藏和借阅工作。1949年藏书800余册。建国后，逐年购进。1953年有1500余册， 1958年增至3000余册，1981年有10573册，并订报纸18种，各类杂志74种。1985年，藏书9994册，发借书证365份，全年借阅图书5483册次，图书流通率为25%。
