    1951年3月，在县人行设保险股。1952年11月，正式成立中国人民保险公司夏津县支公司。1953年12月撤销。1954年7月复设。1957年6月又撤销。1981年1月，在人民银行恢复保险股。1984年3月，重建保险公司夏津县支公司。
    保险公司通过收取保险费扩大保险基金，弥补在保单位和个人的意外损失，并为国家积累建设资金。
