    对国家工作人员在经济方面的违法犯罪案件进行侦查、起诉，是经济检察工作的主要内容。1954年至1967年，该项工作由检察院一般监督组办理；1978年8月后由检察院经济检察股（科）办理。1954年至1985年，共向法院起诉经济案件133起、135人，其中贪污案120起、121人，抗税案12起、12人，行贿受贿案1起、2人。1979年至1985年，立案侦查经济案件32起、36人，向法院起诉14起、23人，免予起诉和不起诉18起、13人，为国家和人民挽回经济损失200多万元。
