    1962年以前，本县无专门标准计量管理机构。1962年德州地区行署在夏津设立计量所，负责夏津、武城、平原三县的计量管理工作，派一名工作人员长驻平原，主管平原县的计量工作。商业计量同时也由国家对口部门系统管理。1977年5月平原县计量所建立，隶属县科委管理。
    1985年之前本县仅有机械厂、化肥厂两家企业设有计量室，室内设游标卡尺、千分尺、百分秒、压力表、热电偶等量器。其量器合格率一直稳定在95%以上。
