    乐陵县百年前就有人接种牛痘，但为数很少，直到民国年间才普遍接种。1944年，本县解放后，年年种牛痘，多次对青少年进行复种，并进行过两次全民普种。同时注射伤寒、霍乱等菌苗，有效地控制了疫病流行。
    建国后，为预防各种传染病的发生，国家每年拨专款免费为群众预防接种菌苗。
