    通过信访工作提供犯罪案件线索，查办控告申诉案件，打击犯罪，纠正冤假错案，维护公民民主权利，是控告、申诉检察的一项重要工作。具体任务是统一处理来信、来访，直接查处部分控告申诉案件，宣传法制、提供必要的法律咨询，对信访中发现的重要犯罪线索，及时提供给主管部门。1978年至1985年，控申科共收理来信来访836件次，其中直接答复206件次，直接查处120件次，其他处理67件次，转有关部门443件次。
