    清朝末期，乐陵交通工具主要是手推木轮车和畜拉木轮车。有少量畜拉轿车（俗称轿车子），仅为部分有钱人家所用。民国时期，始有少量自行车。
    建国后，全县交通运输工具发展较快，手推木轮车和畜拉木轮车逐步为手推胶轮车和畜拉胶轮车所代替。1958年始有汽车。到1985年底，全县有畜拉胶轮车2,216辆，胶轮地排车32,106辆，手推胶轮车78,536辆，载货汽车403辆（客货两用汽车56辆），载人小汽车132辆，客车23辆，各种专用汽车15辆，摩托车150辆，轻骑344辆，自行车177,971辆。
