    清朝和民国时期，德州无专门检察机构。新中国成立后，1953年3月建立市人民检察署，1954年12月更名为市人民检察院。1967年3月检察院合并于市公安局。1978年5月，市人民检察院恢复，1981年7月设置刑一、刑二、法纪、经济、监所、控告、申诉等业务科室。1983年8月～1988年，检察院同公安、法院配合，重点开展严厉打击严重危害社会治安刑事犯罪斗争，取得显著成果。1990年，市检察院由7个科室增为12个，共有干警63人。
