    德州自古为兵家必争之地。明建文帝为攻燕王朱棣，先后在德州用兵80万。清朝末年，义和团运动在德州城乡蓬勃兴起，震惊了清廷。北阀战争时期，冯玉祥之国民军与奉系军阀在德州长期征战，直到1928年北阀军攻克德州，才结束了军阀割据的历史。抗日战争中，德州军民为保卫家乡，同仇敌忾，谱写了一曲曲壮丽的凯歌。1946年德州解放后，人民军队戍守州城，战事平息。
